Well Chris (purdue!cak), you have obviously missed the point of the article I submitted concerning Mr. Wirths proposed bill (H.R.4727). Let me see if I can explain it in some terms that maybe you'll understand. First off, I don't recall indicating by the article that I own an 'earth station', therefore the stupidity seems to be on your part, not mine. I can't condemn an individual for purchasing one of these 'dishes' and tuning in on any of several channels where not only listening, but recording of the information is encouraged (I won't go into that right now). The whole point, Chris, is that someone is telling me what I may listen to or watch coming down my antenna. If someone wishes to encrypt their signal, that's just fine with me. If on the other hand, I can decrypt that same signal, that's fine also. What I don't want is someone 'peeking' in my window to see what I'm watching (what other way can we police the law?). If I now take the 'decrypted' signal and sell it to the people that live next door, thats illegal. Let me quote the real 'clincher' in the article; "it will be punishable by fine and/or prison sentence for unauthorized reception of *any* radio transmission unless they are intended for use by the general public." Do you own a 'police scanner'? (I don't) Do you have a 'Fuzz Buster'? (I don't) These both receive transmissions not intended for use by the general public. I feel that the use of a 'Fuzz Buster' is illegal (that is, if you slow down after you have detected the 'beam'). If you want to have one in your car, that's your right, but don't use it to evade the law! Finally, when you grow up and get a job, you'll have some 'extra' money to 'dump' into what may appear to be frivolity... You'll enjoy it!
