Adopey.119 net.news.b utcsrgv!utzoo!decvax!duke!unc!dopey.smb Tue Mar 2 00:06:47 1982 signal handling bugs readnews doesn't do what I'd like with signals. More specifically, signals are ignored too much of the time, or are caught but the wrong action taken. For example, if I do 'readnews -M', I can't interrupt out of it. And 'readnews -p' is effectively uninterruptable; if I hit INT, it skips to the next article. *Not* nice.... Perhaps more seriously, the 4.1BSD job control signals aren't ignored in critical sections. I've used this to advantage to terminate some of those 'readnews' commands I mentioned earlier, but I am nervous about clobbering my .newsrc file. I don't have any fixes for these problems; my experience with B netnews is only slightly longer than Jay's. Also, I'm never at ease applying fixes that appear so soon; I'm not even comfortable with the fix I sent out. Should mail perhaps be used?
